KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A Syracuse man was killed after he crashed a pickup truck into a tree near the Tippecanoe Country Club Thursday afternoon.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, around 4:42 p.m., deputies and rescue members responded to the 7200 block of N. Kalorama Road in Leesburg to find a 2011 Ford pickup truck crashed into a tree on the shoulder of the roadway, partially on fire.
Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames and pulled 85-year-old Charles Leon White from the vehicle.
Police said White was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office as a result of blunt force trauma.
Crash investigators are not sure what caused White to leave the roadway. The incident remains under investigation.
