ABINGTON (CBS) - A tree trimmer in Montgomery County died on the job Thursday after police say he was electrocuted.
Authorities say the incident happened around 3 p.m. in the Huntingdon Valley Section of Abington.
A tree trimming company was working in the back yards of the 1800 block of Pine Road.
Police say one of the workers, a 47-year-old Philadelphia resident, was trimming limbs when he accidentally came in contact with a high tension wire and was electrocuted.
Authorities say a co-worker on the ground was somehow able to break contact between the victim and the power line but the victim was still stuck in the tree.
It wasn’t until PECO cut off power that firefighters were able to bring the man to the ground where he was pronounced dead.
Police did not release the name of the victim or the company that he worked for.
